What's Going On?
Keeping A Live Track Of All Our Events
Live Event Calendar
We have a LOT of programmes running, a plethora of classes, and a tonne of workshops - how on earth do you keep a track of it all?
With our new LIVE events calendar here on the website, available under "GET INVOLVED > EVENT CALENDAR"
All of our events are automatically listed whenever we add a new entry, if it's not on there we have made a mistake!
Where we cover
"Horowhenua" can be a bit of a movable beast depending upon who you ask, the council has one definition, the fire brigade another, the police yet another, and of course we have our own.
This is us - and available on our CONTACT page)
Note: the range area at the south over Ōtaki, we only provide the Elder Abuse Response service within this area, for everything else contact the fine folks at Age Concern Kapiti)

Out of the office
This week was busy for the team as we were out and about at Shannon, Foxton, and running classes at various Levin locations - not that that stopped the office being a hive of activity as well.
A few highlights include:
- Staying Safe driving refresher at Speldhurst, thanks Roger for being a wonderful organiser
- Community Service Hui at
Levin Uniting Church, thanks to Michelle for wrangling us all
(if you're a Horowhenua community provider, get in touch about our BBQ we hosting) - Foxton Community Information Day at the Salvation Army, thanks to Anita for bringing so many awesome organisations together to meet and explain where we all fit in
- THINK Hauora for inviting Amanda and Christy to talk to the Pulmonary Rehabilitation group about exercise classes
And to each and every client, volunteer, and member that invited us in to talk about your own circumstance - thank you!

And finally ...
- Meet your 2025 Finalists, Ryman Healthcare Senior New Zealander of the Year
- Pacific Language Weeks
- Older People: Horowhenua District Council
A man (80s?) is leaning heavily on hiking poles while wandering along with his elderly three-legged dog. They might not be fast going, but they are fast friends. Taking their time, admiring the view. A river unhurriedly gurgling along nearby. - George Penny via Bluesky
